Terms and Conditions

1. General Information

These Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings made with Ebsons Comino Ferries Ltd. (“the Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) for ferry services, boat trips, private charters, self-drive boat rentals, and related services.

By making a booking with the Company, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions.

The Company reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. The Terms and Conditions applicable at the time of booking will apply to your reservation.

2. Booking Confirmation

A booking is considered confirmed once payment has been received and a booking confirmation has been issued.

Customers are responsible for checking that all booking details, including the date, time, number of passengers, and departure location, are correct.

If you do not receive your confirmation email, please contact the Company before your scheduled departure. Customers are advised to also check their spam or junk email folders.

3. Departure Locations and Check-In

Passengers must arrive at the designated departure point at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

For departures from Malta, passengers must report to the jetty located beneath the Ċirkewwa Kiosk.

For departures from Gozo, passengers must report to the Ebsons Comino Ferries Ltd. ticket booth located under the blue umbrella at Mġarr Harbour, in front of the ferry terminal.

Meeting point details and instructions are provided in the booking confirmation. Passengers are responsible for ensuring they arrive at the correct location and on time.

Passengers who arrive late or fail to arrive at the agreed departure time may be unable to board. No refund will be provided in such cases.

The Company cannot be held responsible for passengers missing the boat due to traffic delays, difficulty finding the meeting point, or other circumstances outside its control.

4. Ferry Services

Ferry routes, departure times, vessels, and schedules may change depending on operational requirements, passenger numbers, weather conditions, sea conditions, safety considerations, maritime regulations, or instructions from the relevant authorities.

The Company reserves the right to modify routes, stops, schedules, vessels, or passenger arrangements where necessary to ensure the safety of passengers and crew or to comply with operational and legal requirements.

Where a change is necessary, the Company will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative arrangement that is as close as possible to the original booking.

If a service is significantly affected, including where there is a substantial delay, a change to the planned destination, an omitted stop, a shortened trip, or where the full booked service cannot be provided, customers may be offered an alternative arrangement, rescheduling, or an appropriate refund based on the extent of the service affected.

The Company cannot guarantee specific routes, swimming locations, stops, or activities where these are affected by weather conditions, sea conditions, safety requirements, government restrictions, port restrictions, or other circumstances outside the Company’s reasonable control.

If weather, sea conditions, safety considerations, or instructions from the relevant authorities prevent a return journey to the original departure harbour, the Company may arrange an alternative return location where possible. Any necessary transport arrangements or additional costs will be communicated to passengers in advance where reasonably possible.

5. Comino, Blue Lagoon and Local Regulations

Access to certain areas around Comino, including the Blue Lagoon and surrounding bays, may be affected by government regulations, environmental measures, safety restrictions, crowd management systems, or other decisions made by the relevant authorities.

The Company does not control restrictions imposed by authorities and cannot be held responsible for changes to access, swimming areas, anchorage locations, or passenger activities resulting from such measures.

Where possible, the Company will provide passengers with alternative arrangements or information regarding any changes.

6. Weather Conditions and Sea Conditions

The safety of passengers and crew is the Company’s highest priority.

Trips may be delayed, modified, rescheduled, or cancelled due to adverse weather, rough sea conditions, or other safety concerns.

If Ebsons Comino Ferries Ltd. is unable to operate a service due to adverse weather conditions, rough sea conditions, or safety concerns, customers will be offered the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.

Certain parts of a trip, including specific routes, sea cave visits, swimming locations, stops, or activities, may be altered or omitted where weather conditions, sea conditions, safety requirements, or instructions from the captain make them unsuitable or unsafe.

In such circumstances, the Company will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative experience where possible. Where only part of the service is affected, customers may be offered an alternative arrangement or an appropriate refund based on the extent of the service not provided.

The Company cannot be held responsible for delays, changes, or cancellations caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to adverse weather conditions, sea conditions, government restrictions, port restrictions, maritime regulations, or other unforeseen circumstances.

7. Cancellations and Refunds
Customer Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel their booking must submit their request by email to [email protected] as soon as possible.

  • Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the scheduled departure time may be considered for a refund in exceptional circumstances. Supporting documentation may be requested.
  • Refunds will not be granted for changes of mind, alternative travel arrangements, bookings made with another operator, or any other reason that is not considered exceptional by Ebsons Comino Ferries Ltd.
  • Failure to arrive for the scheduled departure (“no-show”) will not qualify for a refund.

  • Refund requests will be assessed by Ebsons Comino Ferries Ltd. on a case-by-case basis.
  • Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method within 7–14 business days.
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before departure are non-refundable.

Cancellation by the Company

If Ebsons Comino Ferries Ltd. is unable to operate a service due to adverse weather conditions, rough sea conditions, or safety concerns, customers will be offered the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.

The Company reserves the right to make changes to schedules, vessels, or routes where necessary due to vessel availability, maintenance requirements, port restrictions, maritime regulations, or other circumstances affecting the operation of the service. Where possible, the Company will provide an alternative arrangement.

If Ebsons Comino Ferries Ltd. is unable to provide the booked service due to circumstances within the Company’s reasonable control, including vessel breakdown, technical issues, or other operational difficulties, customers will be offered the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.

8. Private Charters

Private charter bookings are confirmed once the details have been agreed in writing, including the date, duration, vessel, departure time, route or itinerary, and price.

Once confirmed, the vessel and crew are reserved exclusively for the customer’s booking. Therefore, cancellations or changes made at short notice may result in charges being applied.

For private charters:

  • Cancellations made more than 7 days before departure: The booking deposit will be retained. Any remaining balance paid will be refunded.
  • Cancellations made between 7 days and 24 hours before departure: 50% of the agreed charter amount will be charged. Any amount paid above this will be refunded.
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before departure or on the day of departure: The full agreed charter amount will be charged.

Changes to the booking, including passenger numbers, duration, route, itinerary, or departure time, must be agreed with the Company in advance and may affect the final price.

The agreed route and itinerary for private charters may be adjusted by the Company where necessary due to weather conditions, sea conditions, safety considerations, maritime regulations, or instructions from the captain.

Where changes are required, the Company will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative route or experience of similar value where possible.

The captain has the final authority regarding navigation, route changes, stops, and activities to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and the vessel.

If a private charter is significantly affected and the agreed service cannot be provided, the Company will assess the circumstances and may offer an alternative arrangement, rescheduling, or an appropriate refund based on the extent of the service affected.

Cancellation charges apply because private charter bookings involve reserving a specific vessel, crew, and time slot exclusively for the customer, which may prevent the Company from accepting other bookings during that period.

9. Passenger Responsibilities

Passengers must:

  • Follow all safety instructions provided by the crew.

  • Behave respectfully towards crew members and other passengers.

  • Ensure children are supervised at all times.

  • Comply with maritime safety regulations.

The Company reserves the right to refuse boarding or remove any passenger whose behaviour may endanger themselves, other passengers, crew members, or the safe operation of the vessel.

No refund will be provided in such circumstances.

10. Luggage and Personal Belongings

Passengers are responsible for their own personal belongings.

The Company is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items carried onboard.

Passengers should avoid bringing valuables unnecessarily.

11. Accessibility and Medical Conditions

Passengers with mobility limitations, medical conditions, or special requirements should contact the Company before booking to confirm whether the service is suitable.

Passengers must inform the Company of any condition that may affect their safety or ability to travel.

12. Self-Drive Boat Rentals

Customers renting a self-drive boat must comply with all instructions provided by the Company regarding operation, safety, and navigation.

The renter is responsible for the boat during the rental period and must operate it responsibly and in accordance with Maltese maritime regulations.

The Company reserves the right to refuse rental where safety requirements are not met.

13. Photography and Media

Customers may take photographs and videos during their trip for personal use.

The Company may use photographs or videos taken during trips for promotional purposes where appropriate and in accordance with applicable privacy regulations.

14. Limitation of Liability

The Company will take all reasonable measures to provide a safe and enjoyable service.

However, the Company cannot be held responsible for delays, changes, or interruptions caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including weather conditions, sea conditions, government restrictions, port restrictions, technical issues, or other unforeseen circumstances.

15. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malta.

Any disputes arising from these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Maltese courts.
